With your Florida license, you can obtain a license in Georgia through mutual recognition. If you live or have an address in Georgia, you can obtain it WITHOUT having to take any exams. You just need to follow the steps.
I wanted to inform you that the process for mutual recognition in Georgia is currently underway. To proceed with the application, please find below the links to the two required applications:
- Real Estate Reciprocal Application: https://grec.state.ga.us/wp-content/uploads/pdfs/RealEstate/GRECReciprocalApp.pdf (this application provides a step-by-step guide for the application process. This comprehensive document outlines the necessary steps to apply for reciprocity in the real estate)
- Lawful Presence Verification Application: https://grec.state.ga.us/wp-content/uploads/pdfs/GRECGREAB%20Verification.pdf
- Apply for Certification of your Florida License online. Log in with your user and password at www.myfloridalicense.com, then click on your license. In the left menu, click on the "Request License Certification" option. It's FREE. Fill in the required information and wait for your certification to be sent via email, where you can save and print it to be sent along with the rest of the documents to GREC. (It's NOT a license copy, it has to be the license certificate)
- Obtain your criminal record in the State of Georgia at any Police Station (costs approximately $15). It does not need to be notarized.
- Fill out the attached GREC Reciprocal Application included here. This form should be signed by our BROKER if you want your license to be ACTIVATED immediately. (It's NOT NECESSARY to do it unless you want your license to be activated upon receipt). Otherwise, we can activate it after you receive it.
- You also need to complete the "Lawful Presence Verification" application to verify your status as a permanent resident or U.S. citizen. This form must be signed and stamped by a notary.
- Send all the aforementioned documents via regular or certified mail, or you can also deliver them in person. Don't forget to include the payment of the current fee, which is $170 (must be a money order, NOT a personal check or cash). You can deliver it in person or send it by mail to: 229 Peachtree Street NE Suite 1000 - International Tower, Atlanta, GA, 30303-1605 (physical documents are sent to this address).
Wait for your Georgia license to arrive by mail or email in approximately one week. You do NOT need to select your Broker before applying, but it is recommended. You will receive a license with inactive status. Once you have your license, you can decide where to place it. You can also have your future broker sign the application, in which case, your license will be sent in active status directly to your future broker.
